Although DesignBlok has come to an end, BEACON remains in Prague. BROKIS would like to thank everyone who visited this year’s festival and stopped by its exhibition stand to discover the latest collections. Among the highlights were the versatile ARCADE collection and the new additions to STARCLOUD. The greatest attention, however, was drawn to BEACON, the immersive light installation by british designer Lee Broom, which continues to illuminate Jan Palach Square until the end of October.
One of the main attractions at the BROKIS stand was ARCADE, a versatile lighting collection by Boris Klimek that combines the elegance of traditional chandeliers with the lightness of freely suspended cords, creating a distinctive rhythm within a space. Its exceptional modularity gives architects and designers the freedom to experiment with scale, form and the arrangement of individual lights, allowing the composition to respond to the surrounding architecture.
Visitors also discovered new additions to STARCLOUD, designed by Lucie Koldova. The collection expands its distinctive expression with new wall and table versions, complementing the existing pendant lights. Together, the different formats offer new possibilities for creating a cohesive lighting concept throughout an interior, connecting different heights and surfaces while preserving the delicacy and elegance that define the collection.
The greatest public response, however, was reserved for BEACON, which transformed Jan Palach Square into a captivating interplay of light and sound. The installation was officially unveiled on the afternoon of 6 October in the presence of Jana Zielinski, Director of DesignBlok; Jan Rabell, owner of BROKIS; and Lee Broom, the designer behind the project. The unveiling was accompanied by a live performance from the Low Brass Section of the Czech Philharmonic. Responding to the musicians in real time, BEACON brought together sound, movement and light in a unique sensory experience.
Following the enthusiastic public response, BROKIS is delighted that BEACON will remain on Jan Palach Square until the end of October, giving visitors and residents of Prague more time to experience the installation in the heart of the city.
