Planets collection at the Moravian Gallery in Brno
EVENTS & EXHIBITIONS
14.3.2023

The Planets collection draws inspiration from historical lighting fixtures and responds to the everyday needs of not only customers, but architects and designers as well. Thanks to a simple physical principle, the lights can be arranged in a variety of dynamic compositions.
The system of weights and pulleys allows the height of each light to be adjusted quickly and easily. This unique solution enables the collection to function both as large-scale lighting installations and as individual lighting objects within an interior.
Czech designers Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák began collaborating with BROKIS in 2019 with the Planets collection.
After graduating from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, they became part of a new generation of Czech designers known for its broad creative scope and high level of professionalism, quickly establishing themselves as respected and sought-after creators.
The duo primarily focuses on projects in architecture, interior design, and product design.

In their work, Roman Vrtiška and Vladimír Žák continue the legacy of Czech post-war modernism — an era defined by a comprehensive understanding of design, in which creators moved naturally between objects as diverse as spoons and skyscrapers. In this sense, Vrtiška & Žák are unique representatives of their generation, capable of approaching projects of various scales and typologies with equal sensitivity. At the Moravian Gallery exhibition, they are also presenting a selection of collaborations with seven additional companies.
